Irina Roncea
Choreographer and ballerina, Irina Roncea graduated from Floria Capsali College of Choreography in 1988 and the University of Theatre and Film I. L. Caragiale, (Choreography section) in 1996.
Together with Cosmin Manolescu, Mihai Mihalcea and Florin Fieroiu, she founded the first independent group of contemporary dance in Romania after 1989 – The Contemporary Dance Company Marginalii (The Outcasts).
Her career has been influenced by the experience with American and French Contemporary Dance Schools. She continued her education at Duke University and took part in the American Dance Festival with the show Despre fluturi fara aripi (About wingless butterflies), with her company, Marginalii.
In the early nineties, Irina was present in the artistic community in Paris. She participated in the workshop Pépinieres Européennes pour Jeunes Artistes, and the project La Danse en Voyage, which gave her the opportunity to work with famous French choreographers. She took classes of improvisation, choreographic composition and dancing technique at Theatre Contemporain de la Danse in Paris.
In Romania she appeared on stage at Teatrul Liric from Constanţa, Teatrul Naţional de Operetă Ion Dacian from Bucharest, the French Institute of Bucharest.
In 2000 she joined Orion Ballet Company and took part in numerous performances. She cooperates with the foundation Raluca - Mica Academie de arte.
In December 2008, Irina Roncea participated in a community dance Masterclass in Vienna coordinated by Royston Maldoom, Mags Byrne, Tamara McLorg, Chris Bunstead and Janice Parker. This event was the origin and the beginning of her involvement in the Firebird project.
